Sync to GDAT
Once DGBrowser has captured your match data, Sync to GDAT… copies it into a
GDAT database, attached to a GDAT profile, ready for clustering,
chromosome mapping, and ancestor research.
Before you sync
- Close the database in GDAT first. Don't sync into a file that GDAT has open.
- Use a decrypted GDAT file. The sync works on a plain
.db file. If your
GDAT database is encrypted, export a decrypted copy from GDAT first; if it can't be read, the sync
window will tell you.
Syncing
- Click Sync to GDAT… in the toolbar.
- GDAT file — browse to your GDAT
.db file. (The path is
remembered; you can also preset it under Settings….)
- Profile — pick the GDAT profile the data belongs to (the tester), or click
New profile… to create one.
- Kits for this profile — the window lists every kit DGBrowser has captured, by
vendor and name. Tick the kit(s) that represent this tester — one per vendor. Only the
ticked kits sync, and your choices are remembered on the profile for next time.
- Click Sync and watch the progress log. When it finishes, open the database in
GDAT 4 — your matches are there.
Safe to repeat. The GDAT file is backed up automatically before every
sync, and re-syncing replaces the rows this app wrote earlier instead of duplicating them. A good rhythm
is: browse and capture for a while, then sync; capture more, sync again.
One profile per tester. If you manage kits for several family members,
give each one their own GDAT profile and sync their kits to it — the kit choices are remembered
per profile.
